Marketing takes place long before the contract is signed, before the book is released and well into the life of the novel.

Are you doing all that is necessary to make sure that you are presenting a ‘good face’ when marketing your novel.

This presentation will guide you through some of the basic mistakes that new authors make and hopefully give you some great tips on how to make marketing work for you.

bio pic 2Working as an author in the world of literature has given Sandra Bowman the tools she needed to help others with marketing.

When asked how she did it; she would gladly help and guide authors. When she was approached by Intrigue Publishing 5 years ago she gladly accepted the position.

Sandra is also a talk show host; on WLVS Radio in Washington DC and has gained an audience of over 1 million viewers every week. Her show can be seen and heard in more than 27 countries and all 50 states.

Marketing is just part of what she does; she also is a self proclaimed shoe diva and selfie queen.

She is the mother of five grown children and can now say; her grandchildren total tops out at 9 (with the newest set of twins being born just four months ago).

White Bird is about a man who travels to Nepal to scatter his brother’s ashes. The novel features travel to Kathmandu in Nepal, the encounter with Buddhism, a shaman, a Western female Buddhist nun, séances, reincarnation, spiritualism, and sex. White Bird took three years to research and write. The talk will describe the process of background research, for example, on Tibetan Buddhism, the Peace Corps in Nepal, accounts of early explorers like Alexandra David-Neel and Madam Blavatsky, and tourism to Kathmandu.  Ruta will discuss the process of writing for three years, improving craft, and shaping the story. Finally, Ruta will share some lessons learned about self-publishing.
