Daydrift Guidelines for NVWC Members

Please note, the Daydrift venue is very compact, and customer priorities are to buy coffee, then books. To take advantage of this great opportunity, stay flexible. All questions go through Kate Goggin. Please do not contact the store directly regarding your event.

  1. Please do not arrive earlier than 15 minutes before your signing.

  2. Daydrift offers two sales options:
    • You can sell your book directly to buyers through your own point of sale platform (i.e., PayPal, Venmo, Square, etc.). If you choose this option, you keep 100% of the profit for each book sale. Daydrift does not take a percentage of your book sale profit. [Most authors choose this option.]
    • You can have Daydrift sell your book for you at their register. If you choose this option, for each book sale, you will receive 75% of the profit and Daydrift will receive 25% of the profit. They will enter your book as a retail item in their system. They take a count of how many books are sold on their system, and then forward that information to their accounting department. It usually takes a week or two for them to process your payment.
    • NOTE: Beyond your event date, if you would like Daydrift to sell your book on their shelves long term, your book must be available through Ingram Spark and they will take a percentage of the profit for each book sale. Talk to the manager on duty during your event if you would like to know more about selling your book long term. Also, Daydrift plans on doing future after-hours events for authors who desire launches and book talks. Again, speak with the manager on duty about your interest.
  3. Daydrift will supply a small round table and chair at the back of the shop. They prefer “the author does not exceed more than the provided table space,” so please don’t bring your own table and do not bring large/stand-up poster signage. You may also choose to position yourself at a small stool near the coffee pick up.
  4. Bring your own books. You may bring multiple titles.
  5. You may bring your own tabletop-sized sign that states, “Meet the Author.”
  6. Promotion:
    • Online: They will add your information to their website calendar in advance of your event. Please note, though Daydrift lists upcoming authors on their website under the heading “Author Talks,” this event is a book signing only. The event does not include a podium or opportunity to address all the customers as a speaker. They also post to their social media (tagging the author via Instagram) and local event calendars such as the National Landing community calendar. You may cross promote on your social media platforms also. Please feel free to post about your event on the NVWC Facebook page.
    • In store: Daydrift will create flyers and will post them at various locations inside the shop for publicity. This element is “in progress” and they are ordering special frames for the flyers. Note: They do not post signage on the front/back doors anymore, but you may bring your “Author Signing Today” tabletop sign.
  7. You can find free parking in the building with an internal elevator that lets you out by the back door to Daydrift.
  8. The staff are warm and welcoming and usually offer you food and coffee during your time slot.
  9. Please remember that you are representing NVWC.
  10. Please give feedback to Kate Goggin after each signing. If you have questions, please clarify with Kate Goggin before the signing.
